What is an extender tube?
An extender tube allows the photographer to take more “in depth” macro shots. Combined with all three-tube mounts you can consider your shots as “super macro shots”.
Extender tubes can produce two kinds of photos.
“Super macro” and “macro” shots.
The parts of an extender tube:
1 Camera to tube adapter
2 Tube to lens Adapter
3 Two additional tubes.
Techniques:
When using extender tubes, you must remember that you’re using it to take a “Macro” shot, in turn you will need to point the camera on the your subject extremely close…
How to Mount:
Before we begin, I recommend turning your camera off, so to not accidentally take a photo while the mirrors are exposed. This will lessen damage dealt to the camera itself.
To Mount the Extender tube, you must first take your lens off.
Once your lens is successfully removed. Find the switch on the side of the lens and switch it to MF for "Manual Focus". The lens will now have to be manually focussed in order to get a good composition. Place it on a clean surface, with the lens facing down.
Next, take the Camera adapter from the extender tube set, and mount it on the camera.
>The next step is optional<
If you desire to produce “super macro shots”, you must mount all three extensions of the extender tube.
Once you have attached the desired amount of extensions, connect the lens adapter to the end of the tube.
Connect the lens. And your golden!... remember that your ISO, aperture and focus will not be recognized nor changed once the tube is mounted. Since the lens is not connected to the camera directly.
